A WESTBURY company that specialises in designing kitchens and making hand built furniture has celebrated its fifth anniversary. Richard Stuart, 34, set up R.S. Designs on Storridge Road, March 2001, and has seen his business go from strength to strength over the last five years. "Including myself we have three cabinet makers, with 45 years of joint experience, and there are 300 items in our range of oak and pine furniture, which can be made to measure via the showroom or our website,” said Mr Stuart. “We work solely to a bespoke service, so customers can pick and choose the type and size of their furniture.”

The company has a showroom with the workshop on Storridge Road, but the website is playing an ever more important role. “The benefit it has is that people can order oak and pine furniture in any size they want at the click of a button.” The company has been a big supplier to the kitchen trade, and this is something that Mr Stuart aims to continue. Mr Stuart is a skilled hand in furniture making. After leaving college at the age of 17, he joined a firm where he worked as a cabinet-maker, with a special responsibility for building bespoke furniture. He then went on to work this capacity for a couple of other firms, before becoming a production manager, and then setting up R.S. Designs. The company employs four people and has just taken on a trainee furniture maker.
